Business Description

In February 1996, Bittercreek Alehouse emerged from two brothers’ passion for the growing northwest craft beer scene. Our success stems from a fantastic team, including dedicated alumni and current staff, representing some of Boise’s finest.
We coined the term ‘Good Beer’ to spotlight brews we adore—beer from breweries with accessible owners and real people behind them. Unlike corporate entities, we prefer backing small independent brewers.

Good Beer embodies a sense of place, featuring rare lambics, saisons, farmhouse ales, or traditionally crafted lagers on our taps. It also reflects a brewery’s commitment to minimizing their environmental impact.

Good Beer is simply great to drink and always local, supporting our community’s independent breweries and local farmers. At Bittercreek Alehouse, our basement brewery enables us to experiment for our guests and contributes to R&D for our second brewery, Woodland Empire. Though we proudly showcase 3-5 Woodland beers, our focus remains on curating and serving ‘Good Beer’ with a world-class approach. Thank you for supporting us and all other local breweries.

We Do Things Different

Locally Sourced.

Currently half of our food comes from direct sources, both local and regional. Although we are not 100% locally sourced our goal is to work closely with local farms and family run businesses.

Environmentally Conscious.

We look to minimize packaging and food waste with our recycling program, including the reuse of glass bottles, the packages we receive goods in, and the use of vermicomposting (we have a worm farm!) to handle clean organic waste.

Energy Aware.

We are working toward reducing our energy / utility use by 10% per year – net zero. We have practices and procedures designed to minimize the use of Water, Gas and Electric in our operations.

People Focused.

Every person in this business, represents our highest valued asset, our biggest investment, and our highest concern. As we focus on our pursuits, our priority is to employ as many people as possible and to improve the conditions of all through the advancement of our work with better wages and working conditions.
